Toshiba Thrive Review

Toshiba Thrive
’s attractive selling price gives it a lead over other popular android tablet. Its solid design, full size USB port and HDMI, SD card slot, and replaceable chargeable battery rationalize its very large design. Its in-built file management feature helps to user to find and accessing file. Comparing the price tag of Toshiba Thrive to other honeycomb tablet like Apple iPad 2 and Samsung galaxy tab 10.1 is less inexpensive, just in $429 and $579(32GB model)

The Good – Toshiba Thrive

* selling in low price than Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 and Apple iPad 2.

* Full-sized USB port and HDMI

* Replaceable battery

* Advanced file management system

The Bad – Toshiba Thrive

* Bulky or large size designed

* Problem in removing panel

Design & Hardware

Thrive is the latest android tablet of Toshiba designed with many latest features to beat most of famous tablet brand maker such Apple, Samsung, LG, Motorola and more. Length 10.75 x 6.7 x 0.6 inches and weight 1.6 pounds make Toshiba Thrive conspicuously thicker and heavier than 9.7 x 6.7 x 0.34 inches Samsung galaxy Tab 10.1, 9.5 x 7.3 x 0.3 inches, 1.3 pounds Apple iPad 2 and 10.7 x 6.9 x 0.5-inches, 1.4 pounds Asus Eee Pad Transformer.

Though bulky design, its nice-looking rubberized rear plate and textured edge outline make easier to hold. While you hold this Toshiba table you will just feel that you are using Toshiba Mini NB300 series netbook. Toshiba Thrive ships with multicolor like black, green Apple, blue moon, silver and raspberry fusion. Whenever you want you can replace battery, paying $89.99.

I have reviewed many tablet but thrive is my first tablet review, in which I notice some strange design and feature. You may have seen back and rear camera designed in many android tablet and Apple iPad, but in thrive placed on the small wall of device, means your finger automatically covering back-side camera while you are in shooting mode.

Audio and Display

the 1280 x 800 of 10.1-inch Thrive gives eye-catching clear photos and vibrant colors. You can not find any single problem on viewing any angles, mainly in low light. You may face difficult if you watch movie on Youtub from the side. The panel made in magnet for fingerprint and make me disappoint on seeing images, little bit light reflects and dirty.

Toshiba added Resolution+, a video enhancement mobile technology in, to provide more look sharper on normal-definition on video playing or recording.

The in-built thrive’s speaker give clear and outstanding sound quality better than Samsung galaxy Tab 10.1. I already tested the sound quality on different music.

User Interface and Software

Toshiba has repeated same normal Android 3.1 “Honeycomb” UI, no changes, like other tablet’s honeycomb device; in Toshiba Thrive android tablet you will get five customizable desktop features to grip shortcut menu and important widgets. Taskbar designed with home and software back and positioned in the bottom of screen, while text-switching button in left edge and battery/wireless, clock and alerts in the right edge. The top bar offer all type of information, search box and content-specific menus to user. Well customized you will never face any difficult in desktop sharing.

If you are new in Android 3.1 technology then you will get some interesting things on multitasking button which has placed in left edge of taskbar, just press your thumb and see scrollable list, each list open unique app, also you can close. I found little bit difficult on switching apps, though I have already used Android 3.1 tab.

The Swype and standard Android is the two virtual keyboard of Toshiba Thrives, which makes you better relax and fun on speed text or message typing. Keyboard has small tracing lines between keypad, avoid keyword disturbing in typing.

File Manager and Ports

Full-sized USB port of Toshiba Thrive is the major differentiators than other Toshiba tablet and also it competitors. The tablet looks cool and sexy because head phone jack, full-shape USB, tiny USB, and HDMI- out port positioned in right edge of chassis, and life edge carry full-shaped SD card reader.

The full-sized USB port help user in many ways such as plug in additional storage, additional hard drives and USB flash drives. Easily accessible Toshiba’s file manger software by inserting SD memory card or external hard drive to file transfer between additional device and internal memory.

For charging Toshiba Thrive you need dedicated AC adapter, no charging via mini or full USB port.

  1. Toshiba Thrive is best tablet currently i am using. it’s function far better than Samasung Galaxy tab1.0 and Apple iPod 2

  2. Pills are likely to be supposed to be “thin along with light” small pcs having inconspicuous connects. Many supplements are usually slimmer along with light than the others, however. Though we’ve lauded tablets such as the iPad 2 along with Whole world Case particular for sleekness in addition to dinged the particular HP TouchPad for being far too large, this Blossom presents an interesting query. Can be a heavy tablet fundamentally a bad thing or maybe could a pill justify the extra large?
